Over the past 15 years, Harvey, Ward & Associates, Inc. have provided training to law enforcement agencies at the local, county and state level throughout the United States. We have successfully trained background investigators in departments of varying sizes and have developed a reputation for providing a systematic approach to background investigations. Our goal is to help departments make informed hiring decisions after they have addressed discrepancies in the job application and to ensure it is done as efficiently as possible. In recent months, we have trained background investigation personnel from numerous agencies throughout the United States in such areas as Fredericksburg, Maryland, Plymouth Massachusetts, St. Louis, Missouri, Nashville, Tennessee and Las Vegas, Nevada. We have many contacts in these agencies and have developed a foundation of trust that has provided repeated training opportunities over the years.
In the past two years, the partners of Harvey, Ward & Associates have joined with Background Solutions, LP and developed background investigation software (Background Assistant) that is web-based for use by police and fire agencies. This application was developed by police officers for public safety personnel to further enhance the consistency and efficiency of the hiring process in police departments. The application provides agencies with an on-line application solution that provides immediate information to the background investigator. The analysis process of the investigation has been enhanced by required fields of information in the applicant’s job application which enables the background investigator to have more complete and accurate information from the beginning of the investigative process. The verification portion of the application provides electronic correspondence configuration with current law enforcement address data. An imbedded report system that has narrative boxes throughout the system enhances the ability of the background investigator to keep notes and prepare a final report.
